How dwarf names sound

Dwarven names are short and weighty: one or two syllables with strong consonants (b, d, g, r, k) and endings like -in, -ar, -rik, -hild and -dis. Many settings draw on Old Norse, the same source Tolkien used for the dwarves of The Hobbit.

Clan names

In D&D a dwarf's clan name ranks above their given name, and losing clan status is a real disgrace. Translated clan names pair a material with a trait or tool: Ironfist, Emberforge, Granitebrow.
